Take the Best Part by Making the Best Part

Peace...

I worked with a client recently with permanent brain damage to all 4 lobes, his cerebellum, and his cerebral cortex. In short, his entire brain is now in full savant mode, and it wasn’t hard to see that @ all. He was working in a government defense contract (he's an engineer) in the 1970’s, when he was stung by a mosquito carrying meningitis and another disease i don't remember the name of. His blood being poisoned, he went into a toxic shock coma for 7 months, and the result was irreversible damage to his short term memory, a very shortened attention span (think, adult ADHD on meth & coke), occasional problems with comprehension, and slow thinking (so says his diagnosis). The process he and I were to undertake should have taken 20 minutes tops. He very easily digresses from the topic at hand consistently. On face value, he’s seems slow.

Nope. Not. At. All.

After we finished the business of getting his finance software on track (which took an hour and 20+ minutes, the first 30 minutes with him trying to tell me exactly what he needed done), he incessantly thanked me for my patience, then digressed again & ran down his resume. He had @ least 30 major accomplishments that he mentioned, some of his missions were international, along with others that he couldn't remember @ the moment. His resume put mine and quite a few others that I know of to shame. Listening to him on face value, can easily make one think that his handicap is an obvious hindrance to his ability to live a normal life. I have to admit I was embarrassed. My embarrassment came in when I realized that through his handicap, he gained something that most of us lack: Absolute Persistence. The Knowledge Knowledge degree of the 1-14 speaks about Word being Bond. One of the key factors of making that happen is persistence. Persistently pursuing the ways & means to be who you say you are, & do what you say you'll do. He said he was an engineer, and regardless to whom (his doctors, the people who may judge him, which i did) or what (a disability featuring damage to all 6 lobes of the brain, the memory of a goldfish @ times, & extreme passivity, almost to the point of naiveté), he shows & proves.

His secret? Determination and not feeling sorry for his self. He impressed me when he stated that he knows that this is the one life he has to live, that he's already died once. He knows that this is his 2nd life, and is living it to the fullest.

Time for the rest of us to wake up.

Regardless to whom or what. Disability or no disability, Life is to be lived. Even with my being short with him a few times, he took it all in stride, never got upset, and exhibited a humility that made me feel like a born-again sinner. Although it seems like bullshit comes from all angles, there’s some Truth to find in the midst of it, because the Reality is that Truth is everywhere, & always will come @ u from the most unexpected angles until you have all angles covered.

Stay aware.

We all need to reevaluate our determined ideas, renew parts of your plan that have to be adjusted, because real life happens whether you're ready for it or not. Unknowns can & will fuck yo shit up, only if you let it tho.

Peace...Au
